Call Of Duty: Black Ops 5 will not be developed by Sledgehammer and Raven Studios. Rather, it will be handed over to Treyarch for developing the latest sequel as Black Ops 5. The game was scheduled to release in 2020 as informed by Activision before.
Sledgehammer and Raven Studios, as both were actively involved to lead the project as a developer. For now, they have been boycotted and they had planned to set the story during the cold war era. As the reports from Kotaku, are pretty accurate and true, the Treyarch will start the project from scratch.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 5 will be a single player campaign
The Call of Duty to be released in 2020 had a campaign before the changes were made. However, Treyarch will join the work left over by the other two developers and give an ultimate Black Ops campaign.
This campaign may make fans happy due to the single-player campaign and lead to a battle royale game. Moreover, the last sequel Black Ops 4 was also a Battle Royale single player campaign game. This change in the developer may have an advantage.
Over the years, Raven Studio has been a support developer for the Black Ops sequels. Treyarch has always maintained the lead for all the Black Ops game induced.
Meanwhile, this the first time that Activision has fragmented it’s all-time three studio rotation. Firstly, with the Treyarch Black Ops 2 then following Infinity Ward’s COD: Ghosts and finally the Sledgehammer’s Advanced warfare.
Expected reason for a sudden change
According to the reports from Kotaku, the major reason behind the change of studios is with its developing tension among them. Raven and Sledgehammer’s employees have been thoroughly in an argument over the past years.
Moreover, two co-founders of Sledgehammer have left the firm rather joining a new publisher. Over that the employees are also shifting to the new publisher 2K.
Overall, the tensions have been overwhelmed and Treyarch is in the process to develop the Black Ops 5. Rather they have been scheduled for 2 years to get the project complete.
Moreover, the period of two years seems to have mixed reactions. Some claim that the period may have a time crunch. And others claim that the game plan won’t change for the Black Ops 5.
However, the Call Of Duty: Black Ops 5 may be a calendar challenge with the release of next-generation PlayStation and Xbox.
