Cyntoia Brown walked free from the Tennessee Prison on Wednesday, early morning. As a teen, she became the center of news headlines. Because she murdered a Nashville real estate agent who bought her for sex. This made the 16-year girl to commit a serious crime in an effort to defend herself. But, today she was released from the prison after being granted clemency in January.
Prisoned as a teen, freed as an adult
Cyntoia spent half of her life behind the bars which comprised of some crucial years of her life. She was sentenced for life in prison in 2004 for the murder of a 43-year-old man. She was charged for aggravated robbery and first-degree felony murder at an age of 16.
And, she was eligible for parole only after serving 51 years in prison. But, the 31-year-old woman walked free out of the prison today.
What Cyntoia says
Brown’s case gathered a lot of controversies about what led her to kill the man. Cyntoia said that Allen bought her to his house for sex trafficking and she was forced to become a prostitute. Although, the young Cyntoia resisted before making any move. But then she saw Allen reach under the bed. Thus, she thought that he might kill him. And, in order to defend herself, she shot him with the gun kept in her purse.
However, the prosecution argued that she attempted the murder in order to rob him. Because Cyntoia took away his purse after killing him.

After Cyntoia was sentenced to imprisonment, her case became a trending issue on social media. Several people supported the girl by posting for her on social media with #FreeCyntoiaBrown. This also included A-list celebs like Rihanna and Kim Kardashian.
Bill Haslam grants clemency to Cyntoia
After 15 years of imprisonment, Cyntoia was granted clemency in January 2019. Governor Bill Haslam said that they have taken the decision after carefully examining the facts of the tragic and complicated case. And, as promised, Brown was released today from the prison.
Cyntoia Brown comes out with a bachelor degree
After reading this, many of you might be shocked that the 31-year-old Cyntoia has even completed her Bachelor’s degree. She got an associate degree in 2015 from Lipscomb University.
Brown has also collaborated with Tennessee’s Juvenile Justice System to help and counsel those youngsters who might undergo the same situation. And thus, she has walked out of prison as a completely different person. She is no more a traumatized prisoned girl. She is bold and has set a great example for all other women.
