Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, both are known for their remarkable space companies. They have made a great contribution in making humans explore and interact with space. But, both of them have been caught in controversies over their rising rivalry. They have been caught mocking each other several times, even on social platforms like Twitter.
Reasons for surge in competition
Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, both are working on reusable rockets and next-gen spacecraft. This becomes the major cause for both of them criticising each other. Thus, the tension between their companies, Blue Origin and SpaceX have risen and transformed into the rivalry.
Instances of raging competition
These instances are a sign of raging rivalry that exists between the two billionaires:
- Bezos founded Blue Origin from the rise in success of Amazon. While Elon launched SpaceX by selling PayPal to eBay.
- When SpaceX suggested NASA on using pads, Blue Origin and United Launch Alliance protested jointly. Musk addressed this as a ‘phoney blocking tactic’.
- Musk even left a comment on Twitter addressing Jeff Bezos as a ‘satellite copycat’.
- Both of them even don’t miss a chance of complementing each other. For instance, when SpaceX launched its first rocket booster on a drone ship, Bezos took to Twitter to praise the company.
Despite being billionaires Musk and Bezos are into a childish cat fight which seems never-ending. And their competition has increased to such a level where they are involved in social media fights as well.
Both of them try hard to hide their envy. But, they can’t miss a chance to mock each other. The present rivals may become buddies in the near future. They both, if together, can make more advancements for the betterment of interaction of humans with space.
Hope they build good relations in coming time!
