What’s new with the Corvette this time?

General Motor’s Corvette division has a loyal fan base since the 1960s. That being said, this will be the first Corvette designed with the engine in the middle. Typically, every Corvette till date has its engine either in the front or back.

General Motors has redefined its approach for Corvette and now its similar to that of Ferrari and Lamborghini. A car with mid-engine configuration gives it much better handling than cars with engines in the front or back.

Paul Stanford, the owner of one of the biggest Corvette dealership in the U.S., said that over 170 people have already spent thousands of dollars to get on the waiting list.

“People looking at these $250,000 mid-engine cars will look at this and see true value. Chevy is looking for a big opportunity with this car. – Paul Stanford, Chevrolet dealership owner

Bridging the generation gap

Chevy’s Corvette is pretty popular with the general public in the United States. However, it is often associated with white old guys with mustaches.

Kelly Ryan, the president of the Corvette Club of America said that younger people are actively joining the club despite the company’s old man’s car image. The upcoming car will help change the general public perception.

The biggest challenge GM faces is to break the stereotypical image and make it appealing to the next-gen sports-car enthusiasts. And they are working just on that.

GM spokesman Chris Bonelli said that Chevy is trying its best to appeal to new customers by incorporating new features and technologies in the car. He did not further elaborate on what enhancements the new model has under its sleeves.

The sports-car business is declining around the world since customers are now looking forward to more leg-room and luxuries rather than raw performance.
