The famous ticket booking website, Viagogo has been suspended by Google as an advertiser. There were claims that the company was offering tickets at inflated rates on their website. Google says that they want to completely ensure that when a user buys a ticket using their platform the user to trust them.
CMA takes Viagogo to court
The Competition and Marketing Authority (CMA) is dragging the website to court. According to them, the website has still not made significant changes in their business practices.
CMA initially launched the legal action against them in last August as they were violation consumer protection law. And the court asked Viagogo to abide the following conditions:
- The buyer should get to know which seat they will get.
- Also, in the condition of any risks, they will be turned away.
But CMA alleges that Viagogo is still breaking the guidelines. This is a straight contempt of court. Viagogo is still giving:
- false ticket-availability messages
- wrong addresses of the sellers
- insufficient warning tickets with restrictions on reselling
On responding to Google’s concerns, Viagogo exclaimed that they are quite surprised to hear about Google concerns. And, ensured that they were not breaching any of its policies. They also expressed their desire to resolve the issues as soon as possible and work with the search giant again.
