The Hollywood adaptation of One Piece will be penned down by Matt Owens. Matt is famous for his works with Marvel TV shows like Agents of Shield and The Defenders. Matt also worked upon Marvel’s Luke Cage.
Eiichiro Oda himself, the creator of One Piece, updated fans regarding the news. The announcement was made in the issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

Matt commented,
“I want to make the most of my passion for One Piece by creating a thrilling live-action series which is faithful to the original story and will not only satisfy longtime fans but bring in new fans as well.”
The announcement of the live adaptation was two years prior. Oda confirmed a live-action installment for the series back in 2017. It was announced on the 20th anniversary of the manga. Marty Adelstein, the producer, also believes that Owens is perfect to bring the favorite fan Luffy back to life.
Marty Adelstein commented,
“When I first heard Matt’s presentation of his vision for the work, I thought he was the perfect person to take on this project.”
