Star Wars geeks rejoice. Disney announced on March 7 that the Galaxy’s Edge theme parks will be earlier than expected. But hold your horses before you start planning your visit, there is a caveat.
The Star Wars Land was supposed to open in late summer and fall this year, but the company has decided to move up the launch dates. It is now scheduled that the theme park will open on May 31 in California and Aug 29 in Florida.
There are two chief attractions in the theme park. In the Smuggler’s Run, you can fly your own Millenium Falcon, and in the Rise of Resistance, you get to battle between the First Order and Resistance. Smuggler’s Run will be operational on the launch dates, along with a wide array of themed shops. But the second ride will open later this year. Disney calls it Phase 2 of the theme park.
The Company has also stated that even if guests have a ticket, they will need a special reservation to attend Galaxy’s Edge from May 31 to June 23 at Disneyland, California. There will be no extra cost for reservations and the same can be made at disneyland.com and Disney Parks Blog. Guests who are staying at any of the Disneyland Resorts at the time will get an automatic reservation. No reservations need to be made for the Florida park, but capacity will be limited, sources have revealed.
The park is expected to be a sensational experience. In a meeting on Friday, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the Rise of Resistance is
the most technologically advanced and immersive attraction we have ever imagined.
