According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has finally rolled out the feature after testing it for months. But, you will only be able to access it if you are a beta tester for the app. With this feature, you’ll have to unlock the app every time when you open it. However, you can answer calls and reply to texts from notifications without entering the app also.

About the Fingerprint feature

When you open the fingerprint sensor lock, you will see you can opt to enable the feature. However, now you can also choose the duration for which you want to enable the fingerprint sensor lock. You have three options: Immediately, After 1 minute and After 30 minutes. For instance, if you choose “Immediately”, the app will ask you to authenticate from that very moment. And you’ll have to unlock it every time when you use WhatsApp.

And in our opinion, if you care a lot about your privacy, Immediately is the best option. Also, when you enable the Fingerprint lock feature, content in the widget is hidden by default. The new addition in the feature also gives you an option called Show content in notifications, so that you can choose whether you want to see or hide the received messages in the notification bar.
